Roger Williams Leads GOP Senate Hopefuls in Fundraising
Williams Tops the Million Dollar Mark
Austin, Texas — Businessman Roger Williams now leads all Texas GOP U.S. Senate hopefuls with more than 1 million dollars raised from more than 750 donors. Williams added nearly half a million dollars to his total in the 2nd quarterly reporting period -- far more than any of his competitors. Roger also leads with $727,597 in cash on hand.
“Our fundraising numbers show that people are responding to my message of lower taxes, less government and the need to send a business leader to Washington,” Roger said. “I’m especially pleased that so many Texans have joined our team and given what they can to support us. They know what I know: Washington is broken and we need a business leader in the Senate. I have 37 years of running a business and I am ready to bring that experience to Washington to help get our economy moving again.”
The April 1st to June 30th campaign finance report was the first big test of the election. Roger Williams, who is known for helping dozens of other Republicans in their campaigns, is raising funds for himself for the first time.
In the last 3 months, the Roger for US Senate campaign has added an amazing 450 individual contributors – more than doubling his list of financial supporters. His supporters include many of the State’s most well known Republicans, as well as many grassroots Republicans and independents.
“I am humbled by the support I have received from my fellow Texans,” said Williams. “And I am proud to be able to let them know that they are part of the leading campaign.”
Roger Williams announced an exploratory committee for the United States Senate on December 12, 2008. Williams is a former professional baseball player and former college head coach, he is best known for his 37 years as a successful businessman and as Texas’ 105th Secretary of State. As Secretary of State, Williams worked tirelessly to promote economic development, investment and job creation across Texas. He also served as the state’s Chief Liaison for Texas Border and Mexican Affairs as well as Chair of the state’s 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Response Strike Force. Williams’ civic activities include serving on the Board of Trustees for the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University where he co-chairs the school’s capital fundraising campaign. Williams is also a member of the Texas Christian University Board of Trustees, his alma mater. He also serves on the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Board of Directors as well as serving on the Admiral Nimitz Foundation Board of Directors in Fredericksburg, Texas.

I asked your position on illegal immigration /since you refuse to answer I have to assume you side with big business interests in Texas, rather than Texans who have been raped, slaughtered, and are unable to get med care because of the Mexican condos in the emergency rooms in Texas.

I am very pleased with your comments, ideas and goals, as you stated today, regarding the illegal immigration situation in Texas. Everyone is concerned about receiving good health care, protecting social security benefits, and controlling our southern border among other issues. I have no fear of those seeking freedom & a better way of life in these great United States and understand their desire. You are correct in that we need to know who, where, & how many there are. Yes, Roger, I too am terrified of those crossing with the intent of terrorizing us. I am joining the many helping you get to Washington!

I would like to know your position regarding illegal immigration ... not only here in Texas, but also it effects the entire US.
We MUST protect our brorders from ANY who may be, in essence, an enemy to our democracy.
Thanks.
