It’s Official

Updates from Roger

This past weekend, Senator Hutchison made it official. "Let me be crystal clear about one thing," she said, "I will be resigning this Senate seat." That means the race for the U.S. Senate is officially underway. And nobody is more prepared to win that race than I am.

Throughout this U.S. Senate campaign, I have often said that nobody knows exactly when the election would be held—only that it will be held sometime between now and 2012. The latest announcement has not changed that so my job continues to be to prepare for the election no matter when it might be. Whether the election happens within the next few months or takes longer, you can be certain that I will prepare each and every day to be ready when that time comes. My priority is that Texas continues to have a strong conservative voice in the U.S. Senate and I will keep my eye on that goal as this campaign goes forward.

TFRW Convention

Time With TFRW

Also this weekend, I had the distinguished pleasure of presenting to some of Texas' finest with the Roger Williams Award for Voter Registration in this past election cycle. The recipients were:

  • Garland Republican Women (Small Club)
    Mary Darby, President
  • Republican Women of Arlington (Medium Club)
    Mary Jo Patten, President
  • Northwest Forest Republican Women (Large Club)
    Sue Ann Lurcott, President

These women and their fellow members of Texas Federation of Republican Women teamed with Texas Victory 2008, which I chaired, played a vital role in assuring that Texas remained a red state while the rest of the country was hit by the Obama wave.

Thank you all for who you are and what you do to keep this state and country strong and conservative. I am honored to fight along side you.
