This Labor Day, I salute all the hard-working men and women in America who are working hard to get our economy moving again. Unfortunately, they are working harder and longer for less. One of best parts of running for the US Senate is being able to travel around this great state and meet its good people. I never cease to be amazed at the service and sacrifice that so many Texans are making for our country. (Continue reading...)

What kind of president conducts business like this? Who would convene a meeting to let people be involved in the process and then try and preempt the meeting by announcing that you already have a plan and you just want everyone to agree to it? (Continue reading...)

Most people know that ten years ago, President Bush cut taxes. What most people don’t know is that those same tax cuts are set to expire in 2011.

Last night we saw something extraordinary. A president who has lost the confidence of the American people blamed everyone but himself. He lectured the Supreme Court, complained about Senate procedure and pointing the finger of blame yet again at his predecessor. So this is how the Obama Administration creates jobs: it convenes a summit at the White House with a few token business people to talk about plans for creating more spending and more government. Where was the Chamber of Commerce? Where was the National Federation of Independent Business? Where was WORKING AMERICA? (Continue reading...)

On October 3, 1863, Abraham Lincoln was in the midst of fighting a civil war. But he still took time to establish the last Thursday of November as a National Day of Thanksgiving. He asked that we, as a nation, give thanks for all this country had and what its future held. I encourage you as you gather with your loved ones this Thanksgiving to be sure to count your blessings and to give thanks for the many people who make this country great. (Continue reading...)

This past weekend, Senator Hutchison made it official. "Let me be crystal clear about one thing," she said, "I will be resigning this Senate seat." That means the race for the U.S. Senate is officially underway. And nobody is more prepared to win that race than I am. (Continue reading...)
